ToonTime Fun Run

ToonTime Fun Run

Tooontime will bring pontoon boaters together in northern Michigan Friday, Sept. 11, and Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, for a weekend fun run centered on food, drinks and a group cruise from Mullett Lake to Mackinac Island.

The weekend begins Friday evening at Inn Between Restaurant & Rentals in Indian River, where participants will gather for dinner and drinks. Organizers are encouraging boaters to make a weekend of the event and reserve rooms in advance.

Saturday’s boating portion will begin at Hobo Beach on Mullett Lake, where participants are scheduled to meet before a targeted 9 a.m. departure. From there, the group plans to cruise north toward Mackinac Island, weather permitting.

The route will take boaters from Mullett Lake through the northern section of Michigan’s Inland Waterway, into the Cheboygan River, through the Cheboygan River Lock and then out onto Lake Huron for the final leg toward Mackinac Island. Because the run includes open-water travel on Lake Huron, organizers have made clear that the trip is dependent on favorable weather and boating conditions.

Unlike a poker run, the Tooontime Fun Run is being organized as an informal recreational outing rather than a competition. There is no formal signup required, and organizers are inviting boaters to simply show up, bring friends and enjoy a weekend on the water with other pontoon owners.

The event is aimed at some of the Midwest’s most enthusiastic “Tooons” and gives participants a chance to turn a simple lake meetup into a destination cruise. The combination of a Friday-night social gathering and a Saturday run to Mackinac Island makes it a strong late-season event for northern Michigan boaters looking for a relaxed group adventure.
