SLOWPOKE-R-RUN

The 2nd Annual SLOWPOKE-R-RUN will bring boaters together Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, for a recreational poker run and charitable day on the water in Virginia’s Hampton Roads region.
Hosted by Cast A Wish, the 2026 event carries the theme “Crusin’ Through Broad Bay” and gives participating crews an opportunity to spend the day boating, collecting poker hands and supporting families affected by pediatric cancer.
Early-bird boat registration is $300 through Sept. 1, with general registration increasing to $350 per boat. Each boat registration includes one poker hand, two food tickets and four drink tickets.
Boaters who register during the early-bird period are also guaranteed a captain’s bucket and an official SLOWPOKE-R-RUN flag while supplies are available.
Participants looking for additional opportunities in the poker competition may purchase extra hands. Organizers are limiting entries to a maximum of six poker hands per boat. Additional food and drink tickets will also be available.
The SLOWPOKE-R-RUN is organized as a recreational boating fundraiser rather than a race. Participants will cruise the Broad Bay area while taking part in the poker-run activities, with the final results determined by the cards collected rather than boat speed.
Proceeds from the event benefit Cast A Wish, a nonprofit organization that provides experiences and support for children and families affected by pediatric cancer.
The 2026 poker-run route, individual card-stop locations, departure time, final hand deadline and prize amounts have not yet been publicly announced. Participants should follow the organizer’s event page and registration site for the final schedule and boating instructions as Sept. 12 approaches.
