Lake Cumberland RaftUp

The annual Lake Cumberland Raft-Up is scheduled to return Saturday, August 1, 2026, on Lake Cumberland, continuing one of the largest and most recognizable boating gatherings in the United States. Centered around the Camp Earl Wallace area just east of State Dock Marina and Jamestown Marina, the massive floating party regularly attracts thousands of boaters from across Kentucky and the Midwest for an afternoon of music, swimming, raft-ups, and lake celebrations.

The Lake Cumberland Raft-Up originally gained national attention in 2010 after officially breaking the Guinness World Record for the world’s largest boat tie-up. Representatives from Guinness World Records were present as more than 1,500 boats of various sizes rafted together simultaneously on Lake Cumberland, helping launch the event into one of the signature boating weekends of the summer season.

Since the record-setting event, the annual Raft-Up has continued growing into a major tradition within the Lake Cumberland boating community. Organized by the Lake Cumberland Association — a coalition of Lake Cumberland marinas and tourism organizations — the event focuses on celebrating the lake lifestyle while promoting tourism and boating activity throughout the region.

The main 2026 festivities are scheduled to run from approximately 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. EST and will once again feature live entertainment performed from the event’s floating stage positioned within the raft-up area. Organizers confirmed that Marshall and The Paint Creek Band are expected to return as featured performers for the 2026 event weekend.

Unlike a traditional poker run or race event, the Lake Cumberland Raft-Up operates as a massive floating social gathering where boats anchor and tie together across portions of the lake while participants spend the afternoon swimming, socializing, listening to music, and enjoying the lake atmosphere.

Safety officials and organizers are once again emphasizing several important operational rules ahead of the 2026 event. Houseboats participating in the festivities are required to tie off separately along the shoreline rather than joining the primary raft-up circle occupied by smaller boats and cruisers. Organizers stated that this rule will be strictly enforced with assistance from local water patrol and law enforcement agencies in order to maintain safe spacing throughout the heavily congested boating area.

The event regularly attracts a wide variety of watercraft including pontoons, wake boats, center consoles, cruisers, performance boats, houseboats, and personal watercraft from across the region. Many participants begin arriving early Saturday morning to secure anchoring positions before the main afternoon crowds build around the floating stage and central raft-up zones.

Over the years, the Lake Cumberland Raft-Up has become one of Kentucky’s best-known boating events and is often considered one of the largest freshwater raft-up gatherings in North America. Drone footage and aerial photography from previous years have shown enormous flotillas of tightly packed boats stretching across the lake near the Camp Earl Wallace area.

Organizers continue encouraging all participants to boat responsibly, follow local boating regulations, operate safely around swimmers and anchored vessels, and respect neighboring boaters throughout the event weekend.
