Golconda Poker Run

Golconda Poker Run

The Golconda City Planning Commission Boat Poker Run is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026, along the Ohio River in Golconda, bringing recreational boaters together for a full day of poker hands, river cruising, marina gatherings, and waterfront dining at Golconda Marina. Branded as “Oasis on the Ohio,” the annual river event continues to grow as one of Southern Illinois’ summer boating traditions while helping support community projects organized by the Golconda City Planning Commission.

According to organizers, the 2026 poker run will take place Saturday, June 20, with a weather backup date scheduled for Sunday, June 21. Registration and poker hand tally sheet sales will be available between 9:30 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. at Golconda Marina or online through the official registration portal. Participants registering online are required to print or save their registration confirmation and present it during check-in at the marina.

The poker run route will guide participants along portions of the Ohio River with several designated river stops including Jack’s Point, Rondeau Island, Sister Island, and Stewart Island before returning to Golconda Marina later in the afternoon for final scoring and dinner festivities. Organizers stated that all poker hands must be returned to the marina no later than 5:00 p.m.

Prize payouts for the 2026 event are based on participation totals, with first place guaranteed a minimum payout of $500 or $7 per poker hand sold. Organizers noted that previous years have produced first-place payouts exceeding $1,000. Second place will receive a minimum of $150 or $2 per hand sold, while third place receives a minimum of $50 or $1 per hand sold. In the event of a tie, winners will be determined by a high-card draw.

Entry fees are listed at $30 per poker hand with additional hands available for $20 each. Participants must be at least 21 years old to enter the poker competition. The event also includes dinner service at Golconda Marina from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. featuring BBQ pork, chicken, hot dogs, and side dishes. Children under 12 can eat for $5, while adults not participating in the poker run may purchase dinner separately for $15.

Winners are expected to be announced beginning around 5:30 p.m. during the marina festivities. Organizers stated that proceeds from the poker run directly benefit the Golconda City Planning Commission and ongoing local community projects throughout the riverfront area.

Special marina slip rental pricing is also being offered exclusively for poker run participants, with two-night slip rentals available for $20. Reservations can be arranged directly through Golconda Marina.

Organizers continue to emphasize boating safety throughout the event and remind participants to comply with all Illinois Department of Natural Resources boating regulations while operating on the Ohio River.
